Paper Talismans, 8 ft by 3 ft, washi, natural dye, indian ink

resurgent artifacts is a collaborative project between Jasmine Gui, Abby Ho, and Justine Wong. It begins with a poem by Jasmine Gui of the same name. Presented at atif khan’s curatorial show, my final prayer at Art Museum 2023, Jasmine Gui, Abby Ho and Justine Wong collaborated on a physical installation featuring three paper talismans hung around a rain shower speaker playing a choral recording of the poem read by all three artists.

The installation combines incantation and symbolism to explore memory. The talismans, inspired by the basic structure of Daoist talismans, contain each artist’s reflections on memory, anxiety, restlessness, and grief.
